New Year, New….Me?
I can’t help but get excited about changing around the New Year. I like to pretend I am not one of those people who gets revved up for change heading into the New Year only to lose motivation/determination/grit/discipline a few days or weeks into January.
In all reality, I am a mix of someone who is disciplined and focused throughout the year but also have that side of me that gets excited about changing some bad habits and end up failing a few days or weeks later…My Nana always says everything in moderation…Maybe I’m just being moderate 🙂
Anyway, I want to take this opportunity to publicize my goals and thoughts heading into 2024 to my nearly 10 subscribers. If you read this, check in on me and ask me how it’s going 2 months from now!
Before I list my goals, my wife convinced me to try a paper yearly planner, and I have to say I am enjoying it a lot so far (2 days in :]). Anyway here it goes in no specific order:
- Use my planner
- Schedule at least 200 of my work days this year
- Go on a date with my wife at least 1x/month (coffee, dinner, gym, lunch, can be anything, not necessarily date night)
- Do something with my Dad for fun at least 6x this year
- Mediate 156x this year
- Run 800 miles
I tried to keep my goals process related instead of outcome related. Setting goals this way had helped me in triathlon so I thought why not apply it elsewhere.
For context, Here is what last year looked like:
- I did not use a planner
- I don’t have a count on this but I would say it was somewhere between 75-100
- Maybe 4-5 official dates?
- Hung out with my Dad 1:1 maybe 3-4 times
- 396 total meditation sessions since I started using headspace in 2016
- Last year I ran 565 miles
Thanks for following along and Happy New Year!
